Liferaft: Servicing up to date - Stowed so that it is secure, but crew can launch it easily.

Lifejackets: Fitted for individuals. Jackets with air bottles need regular servicing.

Safety Harnesses: Also need adjusting for individuals. In older harnesses, the lanyards and clips need watching.

Flares: Must be ' in date' and kept in dry stowage.

Fire Extinguishers: Serviced as needed. Easily removable from mounting clips.

Fire Blanket: Essential for the galley.

Man Overboard Gear: Securely stowed, but can be thrown over quickly.

    Buoyant Light

First Aid/Medical Kit & Manual: Also a small ready-to-use kit for minor scrapes etc.

Bilge Pumps: Need to be tested and must pump out water effectively. Pump suction has strainers that are accessible so that they can be cleared if they become blocked.

    Flashlights: Do they work?

Wooden Plugs: Best to have once secured by each through-hull fitting.

Wheel Steering: Emergency tiller which has been tested. Crew know of stowage place and how it is used.
